Projects

The Fable House

A choose your own adventure app for young children and their parents. The Fable House features animations, decision trees and employs a variable outcome preview tale. This was an individual project that grew out of wanting to spend more quality time with my own kids. I crafted the animations and designed all the characters, and wrote the story. This was built over the course of 9 days and was my capstone project at Galvanize. Additional features I wanted to add included a night light version that could be read in the dark and a more differntiated reading levels or possibly an audio track that read the story. However time constraints limited this.

Technology Utilized:

Twig of Life

A project dealing with big data. This app features an interactive radial dendrogram that displays taxonomic relationships among chordates. I implemented the dendrogram utilizing D3.js. A team of 5 developers crafted this in 5 days. Initially thos goal was to display all chordtes both living and extinct. However due to limitations this was parsed down to display a representative group of 1000 chordates. THe taxonomic information was pulled form the Encyclopedia of Life API.
